Durahold Rug Pad is made in the USA of American material and consists of a felt surface and natural rubber lower surface. Unlike any other we have seen, Durahold implements a very unique texture within the felt and rubber. This texture is meant to actually hold a rug to the rug pad to prevent shifting and it is meant to act as a suction cup on the floor to prevent sliding.
The rubber layer on the bottom of Durahold is a solid layer, not an adhesive and not sprayed on to the felt. It seems to be heat applied to the felt and this is ideal to prevent any glues to damage the floor. Compared to other felt and rubber rug pads, Durahold seems to contain about 25% more rubber and this lends itself to performance and longevity. The felt consists of recycled carpet fibers and does not have any odor or adhesive.
On a comfort rating, Durahold Rug Pad is not the thickest rug pad available, yet it offers about a 1/3″ thick comfort to any hard floor. We are very impressed with the density of Durahold, as this is one of the main ways a rug pad can prevent damage to area rugs and floors. Durahold is dense enough to prevent penetration through to the floor, yet still retains a comfort level.
Review
In terms of quality of production and materials, we have only seen one other rug pad as good as Durahold. Nothing else does compare. In terms of protection to rug and floor, here, again, Durahold reigns. We do not have much negative to say about this USA made rug pad and if you shop well enough, you will find it at prices lower than some inferior quality rug pads. This is definitely worth the money and value to protect better quality rugs and floors.
